"M'Fay Patterns & Interiors by Michele"
The “M’Fay” of the title refers to a company that designs, manufactures, and markets window treatment patterns.  The “Michele” is Michele Caprio, owner of an interior decorating company and the program’s narrator.  Given that, this DVD could be labeled advertising.  Still, if you don’t know a swag from a jabot, it may be the video for you.  Using a combination of “before” still pictures and “after” videotape, Caprio displays various window treatments and interior designs—from cozy chic to French country—that she has developed for clients.  She also provides decorating tips (consider working with colors you wear, etc.).  Her window designs definitely go for the “wow” factor.  For those considering a redecorating project, viewing this DVD could be a well-invested hour.  A visual glossary of decorating terms would have been a useful addition.  For public libraries.  60 minutes.

"Interiors By Michele: Volume One"
Wearing a tiara and holding a magic wand, Michele Caprio, the "Queen of Decorating on a Budget," demonstrates "how to transform your home into a palace with custom window treatments" as she visits eight beautifully decorated suburban homes.

Budget may be a relative term as Caprio's choice of fabric and designs are definitely not bargain basement.  Swags and cornice boards are dressed up with glittering adornments and stylish and original fringes in window treatments ranging from French and English country to sophisticated elegance.  As cameras pan the completed window treatments, the decorator describes fabric and detailing, with prices for materials and other items captioned onscreen.

Caprio scatters decorating tips (choose a color palate, work on one room per year, watch the fashion world for hot new colors, etc.) amidst her discussions.

Home decorators will appreciate the decorating ideas and hints.  A companion second volume featuring additional window treatments is also available.
